So you cant get 30, 90, 50, or 100 day time codes anymore it seems... I saw the change on the main page.
My problem is I had to start using GTC previously because the eve system was declining my card for what ever reason I just started buying them from shattered crystal. But an e-mail today they sent out says that I have to pay for 2 months worth of time now because of a change of product by ccp and unfortunately a price increase on top of that.
Why does CCP need to increase the price of the codes only. I checked SC and Eve store both have the 60 day at 35 USD which is $17.50 a month??? Where if you use the eve credit card system which keeps turning me away while I can still buy stuff everywhere else you only pay $15 bucks a month...
Isn't it unfair to charge the time codes an extra 2.50 a month? Usually when you buy >1 month at a time you get some kind of discount not a price hike for buying more.
Perhaps its all a mistake but for some god awful reason the credit card billing dept at CCP wont take my Amex or Visa and I'm getting the hose--- Being minmatar you'd think I'd be used to it...

Edited by: Kaimon ValDreth on 21/06/2008 02:11:00 There is no theory to be crafted they hiked the price I want to know if it was intentional or if they plan to change it due to a mistake?

If they want to charge US customers more than all the other MMOs for exchange rates or what ever you want to call it they need to come out and say it.. I figured it might just be a mistake

Originally by: Atomos Darksun The reason why the hiked the price was because CCP was LOSING money on selling time cards to retailers, and then them selling them to the customer, because the retailer gets a part of the profit.
Retailer price = CCP gets less than 15 dollars a month CCP Price = Gets 15 dollars a month
I'd buy this argument if CCP didn't charge the same price on their own "eve store"
Also all the US based MMOs that are any good are getting by on 15USD a month...
Tailoring GTCs to hurt a select group of people (isk sellers, char sellers, etc) is kind of sad. But like was mentioned above I was one of the select few percentage they could screw over and not worry so much as they are helping more than hurting. Greater good I guess.

Originally by: James Lyrus GTC price merely switched to maching the euro price on subscriptions, rather than the dollar price. Once upon a time these numbers were about the same. Recently there has been a 2:1 imbalance, which has lead to many people in Europe getting discount game time by buying GTCs.
CCP haven't raised your price, they've just made it so the monthly paying subscribers aren't getting stiffed.
Fair is fair i guess.... like many have said above me here. With exchange rates being the way they are.
I guess the problem is that exchange rates are mostly tied to imports/exports which is how you value your dollar/euro/pound/etc. Many of us have a hard time seeing that digital information like an MMO as an import or an export value to compare to and don't see how it applies simply because information of the internet has lead to instant exports.
So because I took econ I understand... I think they are trying to be nice to US customers by letting them keep their CC at 15 bucks a month even if GTCs are not... I thank them.. perhaps they will start taking my CC soon
